The Cylinder or Shepherd's Dial tells time by gauging the altitude of the Sun. The moveable gnomon top is twisted to align with the date, and the shadow falls on hour curves plotted on the body of the cylinder.
This model was made of patinated Copper with a Hard Maple base.
Other types of sundials including polar, equatorial, horizontal and vertical, declining, and analemmic dials can be designed and calculated for your specific location by Spiral Spot's computer programs.
