We have moved recently and i will post a view of the new site for the telescope when it is finished. This is an old image of our previous location.

C-8 w/ light screen and Alps

The scope is usually set up in the backyard behind a fence which blocks some stray light (check out the Light Polluted sites page); when it's not raining or foggy it's pretty OK. Polaris is visible above roofs for alignment. On the day of this shot the Alps are way off in the distance across Lac Neuchâtel, and Kaila is about to fall ino the "Pit".

C8wood

The telescope is an old (c. 1997 i think) second hand Celestar-8 on a fork mount, with Advanced AstroMaster Digital Setting Circles which i never use. The tripod has a homemade fine adjustable wedge so it can be more easily aligned to North. All photos suffer from lack of fine North alignment and resonance in the fork, with the slightest of breezes. I have added declination and focus motors to reduce damping time. miniEQ

Recently, because of crappy weather, i have taken to simply shooting constellations with a very inexpensive and quick to set up chinese Mini Equatorial mount, which sits on a table or any surface.
